When Fiction Becomes Real

It's like a page right out of Ralph Peter's novel, The War After Armageddon.

Activists Want U.S. to Help Christians Fleeing ISIS

One of the reviews posted on the title link above said it was "chilling".

I have a paperback copy here if anyone wants it.

Where did 27 go?

I'd swear it was here just the other day...

I busted my ass for a couple days down near Bradenton Florida, helping out the young kid.
I had to show him the old man can still keep up, you know.

I hopped in my truck this afternoon after a hard day's work and drove 5 hours to get closer to home. Ended up in Tifton Georgia for the night.
I pulled up in front of the hotel and swung my legs out and nearly collapsed. Nothing would work right, and every move I made was agony. I had to stagger around in the parking lot for 5 minutes before I could walk like a human.

Busy down here busting my ass in south Florida.

Hump Day Rule 5 - Stacy Pearsall

She's Air Force, so of course, she's smokin' hot.

But this post isn't really about pictures of Stacy Pearsall, it's about pictures by Stacy Pearsall.

Since she was medically retired, she's been doing this "Veterans Portrait Project".

Good stuff.

Go check out her portfolio.

More Bindey Tie Things

In Pensacola to pick up SrA B.
He finishes his school tomorrow morning and he's taking a few weeks leave before going back to England.

We had dinner at The Oar House and sat out at the tiki bar drinking beer and checking out all the bikinis.

It's a hard knock life.

The Ties That Bind

I stopped in and had dinner with my sister and her family tonight. Haven't seen her in a few years.

She's hooked up with this overmuscled truck driver guy, and has moved with him down here to Florida. She seems happy, and the guy she's with seems a hell of a lot better than that last one.
I hope it all works out for her.

They are definitely both very happy to be away from the Washington D.C. area.

I think they will enjoy Florida.

A Hobo's Life

I was in the Holiday Inn Express down in Brandon Florida yesterday.

They have hind-tit wireless there. This is usually not a problem. I just whip out the ethernet cable and plug into the wall and everything works fine.

They didn't have an ethernet backup.

So, if your an internet junkie, blogger and/or porn addict, I would not recommend the place.

Tonight I'm in the Hilton Garden Inn in Tampa's historic district. (Ybor City) (Yes. I spelled that right.)
I had to be over here for dinner with the bigwigs tonight, and since the Brandon Holiday Inn was sending me into internet withdrawals, I just jumped ship.

This is a very nice place, and Tampa's historic district is always a fun place to wander around in.

We had a grand dinner at The Columbia. I would highly recommend it.

Just make sure you bring money.

Lots of money.

The real story isn't about hotels in the Tampa area at all. It's about my stay up in Savannah on Sunday night.

I walked out of the hotel to join my colleagues for dinner and ran into this.

I had to rush back up to the room and rub one out. I couldn't go out to dinner with the boys sporting a moto-boner like that.

I pretty much went full Luddite for a week. It was actually kinda nice.

No. I was not in China.

I think I'm going to change up some of my posting habits, starting with doing my blog stuff in the evenings instead of early over coffee.

Miss B and her friend dropped in for a visit, but first they stopped in at Pensacola to visit SrA B, who's in town for some training.

Best picture of my kids I've ever seen. This one's getting blown up and framed.

Road Trip

Time to get home for the weekend.

Let's have a moment of silence for all those poor bugs that are going to sacrifice themselves to the god of glass and steel.

My windshield.

The Bullshit Principle

A few months ago...

Miss B - "Dad, the old guy at the Firestone service center keeps telling me I shouldn't get any more tattoos. Every time I bring my car in, he says something to me. I want to take my car somewhere else."

MSgt B - "No, honey. He's just trying to share some wisdom with you. He is obviously a very smart man. You should listen to his advice."

This month...

Miss B - "The old guy at the Firestone service center said my transmission would have to be replaced, and it would cost $4800"

MSgt B - "That guy is a fucknuckle. Take your car somewhere else. Right now."

MSgt B - "Here's some extra money. Go get yourself a new tattoo. Just make sure you go show it to that dickhead down at the Firestone shop. Tell him you bought it with all the money you saved from getting your transmission done across town."

Old lady wonders why I'm always watching Telemundo...

In Between

Been busy.

I ended up down in Cocoa Beach for a few days, so I don't have much to complain about.

but I'll find something to complain about anyway.

Just realized it's Tuesday night already and I don't have anything queued up for Hump Day. So here you go, in-between Sunday morning and Hump Day you get this post.

There goes another paycheck...

The second round of MHI Challenge Coins is coming out.

First time around, I picked up three coins, including the PUFF exemption tag. This time I'll probably just drop a buck-fifty and get the whole set.

Look! Squirrel!

Sunday morning sleep-in #144

Before I could put all the patio furniture together, I had to get that old turtle-back from the wife's pickup truck off the back deck. It's been sitting there for months.

My plan was to chop it up with the recip saw and haul it to the dump. Week after week has gone by as I kept dropping that job down the priority ladder. Mrs B finally forced my hand with the whole "patio furniture" ruse. I was busted.

No sweat. In the end, it really is just a 15 - 20 minute job for Dewalt.
I grab the recip saw out of the garage, slap an 18v battery in it and sally forth to do destruction.

That battery lasted 2 minutes.

No problem. An old boy scout like me has the situation well under control. I went back to the garage and grabbed the next battery off the shelf.

A doornail.

So I grab the third battery, gave the trigger a quick squeeze to test and headed back out to the patio.

5 minutes.

Overall, my 15 minute job ended up taking an hour-and-a-half, most of it spent waiting for the charger.

Keep your NiCad batteries in a cool, dry place. (Not a garage in Alabama in the summertime)

Now this morning I get to put the patio furniture together.

It's patio hard could it be?

Saturday Morning Coffee #163

In a hurry this morning.

Apparently today is "go shopping for patio furniture" day.

My social calendar is overwhelmed.
