Sunday morning sleep-in #64

A chance to sit down and relax for a day few hours.

Let's get out the St. Clair Times and see what's been going on while I was away.

I mentioned the Leeds Fall Festival last week.

It's set for September 21-22.
Turns out it's actually the Leeds Downtown Folk Festival and John Henry Celebration
Leeds is yet another town that claims to be the site of the famous competition between the "Steel Drivin' Man" and that newfangled steam powered drill.
Leeds High School students will be putting on a play about it at the depot.

I'll definitely be there...either because this job up in Decatur is finished, or I need to brush up my resume.

Gov. Robert Bentley came for a visit.

He toured Pell City and had lunch with the mayor and a bunch of judges. He also visited Interstate Freight and sat down for a bit with the County Economic Development Council.

Charlie Browning, the owner of Interstate Freight, said, "I think he's a real down-to-earth fellow."

Another nasty car wreck.

James Bliss, of Odenville, ran up under the trailer of a truck that was backing into the Fastenal store on Route 11. The truck was across the road, backing into the loading docks there.

They flew him by helicopter to the hospital.

The Leeds Green Wave lost to Trinity last week, 29-21.

That puts us at 1-1 so far.

Looks like Springville High School is coming out strong this season, with a 2-0 record after beating Hayden 35-0. Their first win of the season was 56-0.
That's right, two shutout games so far. They switched their defense from the standard 3-5 they were running last year to a 4-2-5, and no one's been able to score a point against them yet.
