Sunday morning sleep-in #63

Nice to have at least one day at home.

I got to have a nice dinner with Mrs B last night; pork kabobs with onion, mushrooms and peppers over white rice.
Tonight will be that old Alabama standard; fried chicken, with mashed taters and green beans, then it's back in the truck and back up to Decatur. I need to be on site at the butt-crack of dawn tomorrow.

Let's see what the St. Clair Times has for us this week....

Ashley Cartier died from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She plowed a school bus that had stopped to load kids on her way to school early Friday morning. She was driving one of those little Kia thingies and it went right under the back of the bus.
She was 17 years old.

I'm sure I've mentioned the start of the school year around here before.
Take your foot off the gas. There's nothing that'll get your heart going like coming around a curve at 45 mph and finding a school bus stopped in the road.

Leeds High School managed to hold off Lincoln for a 12-6 win.
It was a defensive slug-fest, but they got the job done.

Head coach Keith Etheredge was quoted, "We won.  It wasn't pretty in some spots."

Bag Supply Company is opening a manufacturing facility on Moore Dr.
They make all kinds of bags, plastic, paper, burlap, you name it.

50 more jobs for the local community. Win!

The Leeds Fall Festival is coming up, September 21-22 in downtown Leeds.

Who's in?

Yea for the food and home time! One can only wonder if the girl was texting or playing with her cell phone...

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if she was texting. You would think that these kids would learn after a few memorial services.

Unlikely that a memorial service or two dozen will have an effect. My experience after 15 years in public schools is that teens truly believe they are omnipotent, infertile and immortal and facts to the contrary be damned. Lost a few, each is heartbreaking, but no lessons learned seem to occur.
